Overview
Soulfire is a “gray-white flame, half-transparent, like the memory of a flame.” It appears as a “perfectly round, spinning slowly, throwing off occasional flare like a dull, tiny sun” within the practitioner’s spirit. Soulfire is the hallmark of the Lord realms, the threshold that separates the vast majority of sacred artists from the truly powerful. [BF Ch.10]

The quality of soulfire increases with advancement. Archlord soulfire is described as a “dense flame of reflective chrome, like quicksilver imitating fire,” at least two grades higher than the soulfire produced at Truegold. [BL Ch.9]
Applications
Soulfire serves multiple purposes in the sacred arts:
Technique Enhancement — When applied to techniques, soulfire refines them to their maximum potential. A soulfire-enhanced Enforcer technique is fundamentally stronger than the same technique without it. A Forger technique tempered by soulfire becomes more stable, more durable, and more potent. Physical Reinforcement — Underlord flesh, forged through soulfire, “cannot be easily seared.” Even with a weakened spirit, a Lord-realm practitioner retains physical advantages no Gold can imitate. [SK Ch.1]
Spiritual Sealing — Soulfire can cage or seal things within the soul, though this effect is duration-limited. It can also be used to inscribe soulfire scripts: symbols written in blood that ignite with gray fire, creating permanent marks. [SK Ch.6, Ch.8]
Object Enhancement — Ordinary objects Enforced with soulfire become viable weapons even when pure madra (which has “no ability to interact with the physical world” on its own) is the base. A broom or pair of scissors, when Enforced with pure madra and soulfire, becomes capable of breaking Forged techniques. [BF Ch.20]
Aura Manipulation — At the Lord realm, soulfire grants weak control over any type of vital aura, regardless of the practitioner’s Path. This control is not battle-viable but allows casual manipulation that would otherwise be impossible. [BL Ch.4]
Soulfire in the Power Hierarchy
The building-floors model of sacred arts power places soulfire as the third tier: physical laws form the foundation, madra supersedes physical force, soulfire supersedes madra, and willpower (the domain of Sages and Heralds) supersedes all three. Each level operates under its own rules, and a higher floor’s authority takes priority. [BL Ch.4]
