An Overlord who advanced through confrontation with a labyrinth echo of her mother as a young woman. She realized the difference between them was not skill or talent but identity: Malice shaped herself through dominance, and Mercy will not. Skysworn
Akura Mercy appeared in the Blackflame Empire wearing a black traveling cloak and carrying a dragon-head staff, a Lowgold walking the Path of the Chainkeeper. Her Goldsign marked her hands tar-black from wrist to fingertip. Purple eyes bright with interest, she offered to help
Mercy won the Lowgold qualifying race by riding her dragon-head staff like a broomstick, sailing over obstacles with a technique that drew stares from every spectator. She seemed unbothered by the attention and more interested in whether her new companions had survived theirs. [SK Ch.15]
When
Underlord
Mercy intercepted Daji in the treasure vault, fighting from the ceiling with Strings of Shadow and venomed arrows while wearing purple crystalline armor from her Akura bloodline. She outmatched him in technique but could not overpower him at Lowgold. When Daji turned his swords on
The INFORMATION REQUESTED biography of Akura Mercy: genius beyond all peers, one of 108 children Malice subjected to the trial of the Book of Eternal Night. The Book was Malice’s first Divine Treasure, crafted in her youth, and no one had ever claimed it before Mercy. She held it at age nine.
When
Uncrowned
Mercy entered the Uncrowned King Tournament wielding Eclipse, the Ancient Bow of the Soulseeker (Suu): a bow of liquid black threads woven together with a dragon’s head at the center, violet eyes gleaming with independent awareness. The weapon was a living construct, the first thing the Book of Eternal Night had granted her. She represented the Akura clan in the tournament, coordinating through Strings of Shadow battlefield control and Eclipse’s ranged attacks, her Puppeteer’s Iron body managing dozens of threads simultaneously. [UC Ch.2, Ch.13]
Wintersteel
The Book of Eternal Night’s techniques operated on a page-by-page system. The first page granted Strings of Shadow (spiritual and physical force threads). The second held the Dark Tide Incantation, which at full power matched a dragon’s physical strength in pure shadow madra. The third contained Nightworm Venom (corrosive shadow poison). The fourth held Shadow’s Edge (cutting technique). Mercy’s Puppeteer’s Iron body allowed her to manage multiple thread-based techniques simultaneously, each strand functioning as an extension of her spirit. She wore the Moon’s Eye, a violet lens that enhanced her perception of aura currents. [WS Ch.4]
In the tournament semifinal against Sopharanatoth, Mercy deployed the Dark Tide Incantation at its true scale: shadow madra dense enough to match dragon physical strength. She followed with Eclipse’s Archlord Forger binding, launching two hundred violet arrows that drained her core to fuel a single overwhelming volley. She lost. Sophara’s dragon-fire at its peak exceeded what even the Book’s techniques could answer. The records note that Mercy never retreated. [WS Ch.15]
Bloodline
During the Sacred Valley evacuation, Mercy deployed Strings of Shadow across the Li clan district, coordinating civilian movement while Suu provided covering fire from overhead. She wore her purple crystalline bloodline armor and directed operations with the same cheerful calm she brought to tournament matches. [BL Ch.12]
Reaper
Mercy’s advancement to Overlord had collapsed, trapping her consciousness inside the Fifth Page of the Book of Eternal Night: a spiritual space of shadow and nightmares inhabited by pale demons. Overlord-level madra pervaded the space. The Dream of Darkness technique surrounded her on all sides. She had regressed to Underlord, her spirit too unstable for the failed advancement to hold.
Her Overlord revelation: “She’s Malice. I am Mercy.” Not a rejection of her mother’s power but a distinction of identity. Malice shaped herself through dominance, through the will to control. Mercy would not. The young Malice echo saluted her before vanishing. [RP Ch.17]
Dreadgod
The Book of Eternal Night’s protections were artificial restrictions that could be bypassed. Mercy’s growing awareness of this fact marked a shift in her relationship with the weapon: the Book was not a ladder she climbed page by page but a treasure whose limits had been imposed, not inherent. She continued to push against those limits as her understanding deepened. [DG Ch.9]
Mercy overcharged the Book of Eternal Night, drawing more power than its restrictions allowed. The phantom image of the Netherworld Empress materialized above her: a towering figure of shadow and authority. The Empress had always been modeled on
Waybound
Mercy broke pages of the Book of Eternal Night and reforged them, discarding Malice’s imposed restrictions and rebuilding the techniques around her own understanding. The process was possible because the Book was hers, not borrowed: she had claimed it at nine, and it had accepted no one else. Her father was mentioned in passing during this period, one of the few references to him in the records. [WB Ch.6]
Mercy advanced to Archlord with the revelation: “I will bring light.” The sixth page of the Book unlocked the Shadestep technique, which borrowed shadow intangibility to slip through space.
The seventh and final page of the Book of Eternal Night held the Netherworld Empress: a manifestation resonating with Bow, Shadow, Strength, and Crown Icons, intended to carry its wielder to Herald and beyond. The Empress had always worn Malice’s face. When Mercy opened the seventh page, the dark hair and cruel amethyst eyes and silver crown resolved into her own features. The Netherworld Empress was Mercy now. [WB Ch.24]
Mercy advanced to Herald. Her Remnant appeared as a shorter, softer shadow-copy of herself, highlighted with purple, wide violet eyes, and a smile that the records describe as “almost cute.” It said: “Don’t give up, Mercy!” The merge required no fight. The Remnant cooperated willingly. [WB Ch.25]
This was unique.
Mercy killed
Mercy manifested the Joy Icon: a bright violet flower blooming across the sky. Her spirit magnified and deepened, her perception stretching endlessly, aura bending reality around her. Herald and Sage combined. Monarch. [WB Ch.28]
She ascended almost immediately, joining
On her first Reaper missions, Mercy deployed World Trees: blue-white crystal structures with diamond leaves that cleaned earth and sky, dropping fruit to feed populations. She negotiated with the fire giant Sulthurus (the Scorched King) and the mechanical priest Bardolph (High Priest of Reason), sending herds of Great Bison across worlds and displaying enough power to make an emperor stumble backward. Diplomatic specialist, with emphasis on the specialist. [WB Ch.33]
Threshold
As a Reaper, Mercy carries Shattersight: a bow of purple mist and rainbows, like a hologram Forged into reality, crafted by
The Reaper Division assigns her to worlds with diplomatic solutions.
Her own assessment of where she fits: “Yerin would have helped kill it. Ziel would have protected while fighting. Lindon would have found a way to do both. I’m going to try something else.” [TH S6]
